abstract: The way in which the cumulative degree-day values (ΣoD) are used for determination of appearing dates of some harmful developmental stages of some pests in the Wielkopolska Region Internet Based Agrometeorological Information Service (WISIA) are presented in this paper. On the basis of the comparison studies carried out between the ΣoD calculated with forecast temperature and temperature measured at automatic weather stations of Agrometeorology Department the University of Life Science of Poznań, the evaluation of precision of pests appearing dates was conducted. The results showed that the ΣoD calculated on the basis of the forecast extreme temperatures are lower than ΣoD calculated on the basis of measured temperatures. These differences are different for the analysed pests, months of the year and weather stations. Due to this reason, the forecast dates of some pests appearance are delayed even by a few days in comparison to dates determined on the basis of measured temperatures. The lowest differences were estimated for Leptionotarsa decemlineata (Tdowm = 11.5oC), while the highest for Cydia pomonella (Tdowm = 10.0oC) and Myzus persicae (Tdowm = 3.0oC).
