abstract: The use of pre-sowing light stimulation of seeds to increase growth and improve the quality of cultivated plants has become popular in Poland. Unfortunately, most of the research describing stimulation effect of light is aimed at showing the final effect of biostimulation, without describing the inner biochemical processes in illuminated seed. Presented methods of research will show these processes as defined in a quantitative manner. The method of measurements of infrared transition spectrum through the samples of triticale seeds (Matejko 2005) is shown. The amount of alpha-amylase enzyme and the amount of starch in illuminated seeds is analysed compared to not illuminated ones.
