abstract:
Soil water resources significantly influence plants growth. The assessment of the thermal and rain conditions influence is often carried out using mathematical modelling. In the study presented in this paper the verification of the model worked out on the basis of Richards’s equation with functions characteristic for water flow as suggested by van Genuchten was performed. Approximation of flow parameters and model verification was worked out on the basis of the soil moisture content measured at six depths, precipitation sums, and ground water level measurements in the area of the Agro- and Hydrometeorological Observatory of Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences. Data from the period from 1st of July to 15th of August 2006 were used to specify soil water flow parameters. The preliminary verification was carried out for the period from 16th of August to 30th of September 2006. In order to check the accuracies of the moisture content values measured and computed with the model, analysis for the years, characterized by different agrometeorological conditions (2004, 2005, 2007), was performed. For comparing these results two measures were used: the correlation coefficient and the relative error.
