abstract:
Biomonitoring covered soils polluted by nitrogen emission in Puławy forest ecosystems. The research was localised along the line of contaminated air flow, east of nitrogen fertilizer plant Puławy. In this paper we present results of soil biomonitoring obtained in 1998 and 2002. In the researched forest ecosystems increased amounts of organic carbon and nitrogen were observed. Throughout years of testing a clear increase of enzymatic soil activity was also observed. This indicates an increased ability of soil to self-regulate also homeostatic balance changes in industry contaminated areas.
