abstract:
The article presents kernel number and mass characteristics of some chosen cultivars of winter (Zyta and Kris) and spring wheat (Nawra and Broma). Kernel number and mass was analyzed along the full whole length of a representative number of ears. Statistical data analysis was carried out with a help of the Statistica programme, version 5.5. Significant statistical differences in the mean values of kernel mass within a spikelet were observed. The spikelets placed a little below the ear center were characterized by the highest kernel number and mass.
