abstract: The research carried out for three consecutive years (2000-2002) included: four forms of fertilizers (green fertilizer, animal, biohumus, Polina biohumus, mineral fertilizers NPK) and control (no fertilization), two varieties of potato (Baszta, Irga), two soils (degraded humus and light clay sand). The following quality features of potato tubers were tested: crop height and structure, tubers morphological features, external faults (such as: developed secondary tubers, green spots, physiological cracking, root damage by insects), the ratio of external mechanical damage to tubers, chemical composition (dry mass and starch). The results obtained confirmed that the quality of potato tubers is strongly modified by soil, variety and atmospheric factors operating in a given vegetation year.
