abstract:
The method of valuation of the effective precipitation intensity using the water balance rule for top soil layer is presented in the paper. Owing to the application of TDR technology for determining the moisture dynamics in the analyzed soil, the intensity of effective precipitation was treated as the only unknown in the balance equation. The proposed method was verified during the investigations in the laboratory of the Institute of Environmental Development and Protection, Agricultural University of Wrocław, and also on the experimental plot in the Silna – Wrony locality in the Wielkopolska district. It was found that the accuracy of the method increases with the increase of the effective precipitation intensity and with the length of time step for which the balance equation was determined. Finally, the dependence was described between the relative error of valuation of the effective precipitation and the rainfall dose for which the equation balance was determined. For doses over 5 mm, the relative error stabilizes at the level of 20%.
