abstract: Soil translocation due to deep moldboard plow (up to 23-24 cm) was studied on a soil developed from loess. Tillage was performed with a 3-blade plough along a slope of 12%. Aluminium cubes of 15 mm edge-length were used as tracers. The studies showed that soil was displaced – on average – by a distance of 37.1 and 23.6 cm along tillage direction, respectively for down-slope and up-slope tillage. Average translocation across the slope (perpendicular to tillage direction) was 39.2 and 39.8 cm, respectively for down-slope and up-slope tillage direction. The results showed that each year about 45.8 kg of soil is displaced in down-slope direction from a field width of 1 m. The studies indicated that tillage implements are an important factor in relief and soil transformation of eroded areas.
