abstract: The aim of the paper was the characterisation and cartographic presentation of spatial variability of soil water deficits for sugar beet. The calculation of soil water deficits was carried out for 40 meteorological stations IMGW and IMUZ using meteorological data from the growing seasons in 1970-2004. Estimations were made for selected soils suitable for sugar beet growing. Water deficit maps were generated for the probability of 20% and 50%, using the “completely regularized spline” method with all measuring points.
