abstract: Rational business activity is characterised by economical and efficient utilisation of human and production resources, especially pursuit of maximisation of production energetic efficiency. Biomass has the greatest share in the structure of renewable energy sources utilisation. Increase is observed in the participation of crops of annual plants cultivated for energetic purposes, some grass species and quickly growing trees. It results from profitability of production of biomass for energetic purposes and possibility of utilisation of plant production surpluses. Assessment of energy consumption during plant biomass production is enabled by process analysis method. Main methodical problems related to energy effectiveness assessment of technologies utilised in plant production were analysed in this study. Types of energy outlays occurring during agricultural production processes as well as factors determining their rate and efficiency were discussed.
