abstract: The aim of the study was comparison of air temperature measured with classic and automatic weather stations. Basing on the temperature data, some agricultural thermic factors were calculated (mean air temperature, maximal and minimal temperature, number of hot (tmax ≥25°C) and frosty (tmax <0°C) days, date of beginning, end, and duration of thermic winter, ripening season and growing season). With the obtained results, prospects for automatic data use for agricultural enterprise were evaluated, along with the maintenance of homogeneous data series. The investigation was based on data obtained in the years 2000-2004 from classic and automatic (Eijkelkamp) weather stations set in Mochełek near Bydgoszcz. It was assumed that in agrometeorological research the fundamental interval of a factor is its ten-day value. Series of mean values numbering from 45 to 180 (ten-day means in seasons, warm and cold half-year and a year) obtained from classic and automatic measurements were compared. Particular consideration of correlative results was done to assign mathematical formulas that would allow alternative use of the classic and automatic data series.
