abstract: This study was carried out in 1998-2000 on a meadow and convertible grassland of similar habitat, near Legnica. The meadow was cut three times, the convertible grassland was cut twice and grazed twice by milk cows. The yield of dry matter of both the meadow and convertible grassland was 8.14 to 12.84 t·ha-1 that of the convertible grassland was on the average by 13.9% lower. The botanical composition of the meadow showed a high share of grasses (on the average 83.4%), and a low one of leguminous plants (on the average 5.5%). The sward of the convertible grassland contained less grasses (76.5%), but significantly more leguminous plants (on the average 11.4%).
