abstract: Microalgae can provide several different types of renewable biofuels. These include methane produced by anaerobic digestion of algal biomass, biodiesel derived from microalgal oil, and photobiologically produced biohydrogen. The idea of using microalgae as a source of fuel is not new, but it is being taken seriously because of the escalating price of petroleum. In this paper we present some possibilities of biodiesel production from microalgae. There is presented the produc-tion of microalgal biomass in photobioreactors and transformation of their biomass into biodiesel.
