abstract: The introduction of a novel, automated method of the meteorological data collection, has triggered multiple problems. The measurements gained from the automatic station have been added to the existing long-term sequence results obtained by the classical equipment. The question arises whether those new measurement sequences are homogenous. Another difficulty is how to model various processes with the use of measurements performed by the classical (standard) equipment and those based on the automatic methods. To answer these questions, the authors have analyzed the differences between the ten-day values of three selected meteorological parameters: air temperature, actual vapour pressure and vapour pressure deficit, gained by the standard method and from the automatic station. The investigation was based on the ten-day values obtained from the Agro- and Hydrometeorology Observatory in Wroc³aw-Swojec in the period 2000-2006. The results have revealed the statistically significant differences between the data coming from the classical and automatic station. The study contains also the analysis of heat balance components measured with the use of classical methods and by the automatic station.
