abstract: Under the climatic conditions of Kotlina Sandomierska the relationship between quality of flowers and fruits and their position in inflorescences or fruit cluster, as well as the position in the tree crowns of 4-year-old ‘Rubin’ trees (on M.9) was studied. Quality of flowers was determined on the basis of their mass, diameter and height of receptacle and length of pedicel. Estimating fruit quality, the mass of individual fruit, diameter and height of fruit, blush, number of seeds, firmness of flesh, soluble solids and dry matter content were evaluated. Central flowers had shorter pedicel and higher receptacle than lateral ones. Fruits from those flowers were significantly bigger: grater mass, diameter and height of fruit, and had grater dry matter content as compared to fruits from lateral flowers. Whereas, flesh firmness of those fruit was significantly lower than that of lateral fruit. Flowers from upper part of crown had the greatest mass and height of receptacle. However the biggest fruits (mass of individual fruit, diameter and height of fruit) came from the middle part of the crown. Those fruits had the best dry matter content and the highest number of seeds.
