abstract: The work of chainsaw cutting mechanism is connected with processes which are useful in estimating the quality value of the machinery. One of the estimation method is temperature measurement of set hot parts. The lubrication mechanism of a chainsaw is an open system and waste oil is thrown out. Inserting into the environment hard to dissolve hydrocarbons is the reason for the attempts to study biodegradable oils, also vegetable oils. An environment-friendly lubricating product could be efficient and give good quality of chainsaw cutting mechanism work. The following lubrication mixture of vegetable oils and esters was studied: A0 – pure mustard oil, A25 – mixture with 25% of esters, A50 – mixture with 50% of esters, AP – mineral oil (Pilar). The physical and chemical properties of mixtures of vegetable oils and esters as well as their influence on temperature of cutting mechanism of chainsaws are presented. Obtained results showed that the ability of mustard oils and esters mixtures for cooling chainsaw cutting mechanism was at the some level as that of the mineral oil. This feature is very important as it has an influence on machinery efficiency.
