abstract: A field experiment with durum wheat (cv. Lloyd) was conducted in 2007-2009 at the Experimental Station Uhrusk. Experimental factors were: I. tillage system: ploughing tillage and ploughless tillage, II. forecrop: peas and soybeans. Ploughing tillage increased test weight of grains of durum wheat, total ash content, grain uniformity of durum wheat, and glassines of grain in relation to ploughless tillage. The forecrops also influenced the grain quality. Higher contents of total protein and wet gluten were characteristic of durum wheat after soybean than after pea. In durum wheat grain the total ash content and falling number were higher after peas than after soybean.
