abstract: The study was based on material from spring-time tests (April, May) conducted over the period of 1994-2002. Measurements were taken at the Ursynów meteorological station, SGGW-Warsaw Agricultural University. The data collected, relating to spring nights with radiation and advective-radiation ground frost, provided the basis for the presentation of the following: mean courses of air and ground temperature, degree of cloud cover, wind velocity, as well as vertical profiles of temperature and times of the appearance and disappearance of ground frost in a 21-metre layer of air. The results permit the conclusion that stratification of cold air temperature on spring nights with radiation frost was much stronger than that on nights with advective-radiation frost. Radiation frost was also characterized by lower minimum temperatures and by a considerably lower vertical ceiling of the cold air layer.
