Ichthyofauna of the middle course of the river Bug

abstract: Studies, from the years 1999-2000, on the density and taxa number of the fish stock in the middle course of Bug River, revealed the occurrence of 34 fish species belonging to 10 families. Among them were noted 5 protected and 7 alien species were found. The highest density reached: bleak Alburnus alburnus (L.), roach Rutilus rutilus (L.), pike Esox lucius (L.) and bream Abramis brama (L.). During the last three decades thetaxa number decreased from 42 to 34 species. 5 species commonly observed in the Bug River till the end of 80. have vanished from the fish stock: common barbel Barbus barbus (L.), vimba Vimba vimba (L.), bullhead Cottus gobio L., white-finned gudgeon Gobio (Romanogobio) albipinnatus Lukasch and golden loach Sabanejewia aurata (Filippi).
