abstract: The analysis of influence of chosen meteorological factors on leaves osmotic potential of celeries and beets was presented in the work. The group of minimum of independent environmental factors and polynomial dependencies of the second order between them and osmotic potential were determined. Leaves cell sap osmotic potential of root celeries, variety Apple (Apium graveolens L. var. rapaceum (Mill.) DC) and red beet, variety Red Sphere (Beta vulgaris L.) were also determined. Measurements were carried out in the months July, August and September in the years 1993-95 on irrigated and not irrigated plots. In the experiments the following meteorological factors were measured: air humidity deficiency, atmosphere water potential, air temperature and actual evapotranspiration. Analysis of experimental data was carried out by means of statistical methods. Meteorological factors were treated as original set of factors determining osmotic potential. To determine the group of environmental factors influencing leaves osmotic potential multiple step regression of second range was employed. Polynomials dependencies of the second order were determined for the whole measurement period independently for celeries and beets under irrigated and not irrigated conditions. It was stated that humidity deficiency and air water potential were factors determining leaves osmotic potential of celeries and beets.
