abstract: In the piedmont region of our country top water mountain watercourses, infiltration water and subsoil water of shallow deposit is used for consumption. The water is often exposed to various hazards and pollutants (flood, drought, run-off) affecting the quality of drinking water. In the years 1999-2001 supply systems, 90 local and 90 homestead wells of the Suski district. This district covers 8 communes, has around 90 thousands inhabitants and over 9.2th livestock heads, 1050 horses, 3.2th pigs, 1.0th sheep and goats and over 40th of birds-poultry. The examinations on water quality proved its very poor bacteriological quality (maximum count of microbes, bacteria coli, coli faecal type and enterococci limit was exceeded) in over 65% of the examined well water and in over 20% of water from the local water pipes. Due to specific geologic structure of this region there are no abyssal wells with good quality water there. Since the flood in the year 2001 the water quality has deteriorated.
