abstract: A one-factorial field experiment was conducted from 1997 to 1999, on degraded chernozem, in order to evaluate productivity of foreign cultivar of crambe (Indy from the USA). Investigated the response of crambe plants to the differentiated sowing rate (7, 14, 21, 28 kg ha-1). Seeds of crambe were obtained from the Agricultural University in Vienna. The yield of crambe seeds (fruitlets) obtained in this study was not high (1.5 t ha-1). The change of sowing rate modified the plant morphology by increasing the number of lateral branches 1st order and the leaves assimilation area per plant in objects with lower sowing rate (7 kg ha-1). The excess of rainfalls in July brought about further growth leaves area on the lateral branches. It is unprofitable for reason of delayed ripening and make difficult the harvest with combine.
