abstract: Automatization of the soil moisture measurement by means of TDR method requires switching of analyzing signal. However the necessary wide frequency bandwidth (above 1 GHz) forced by the applied TDR technique makes it impossible to utilize conventional mechanical or solid-state switches. The switching methods commonly used now in TDR technique are not satisfactory. The presented study shows the highly integrated solid-state microwave switch build of gallium arsenide (GaAs). The performed tests prove that this switch fulfils the requirements of TDR soil moisture determination method and performs better as compared with the ones tested earlier by the authors.
