abstract: Improvement of precipitation measuring techniques is one of the necessary elements conditioning farther progress within the area of research on soil erosion by water. The article presents an idea for an Atmospheric Precipitation Integrated Measuring System (APIMS) construction on the grounds of Wroclaw-Swojec agrometeorological station. The aim of the APIMS functioning is acquisition of data necessary for water erosion research and, within this framework, rainfall kinetic energy monitoring and evaluation of rainfall and runoff erosivity factor. This system should finally consist of the following sensors: weighing type pluviointesimeter, impactometer, ultrasonic snow level indicator and snow weighing device. In the final part of this article, the construction and functioning of the weighing type pluviointesimeter is presented in more detail. The conducted analysis of the preliminary results of the records from the device shows that improvement of the precipitation intensity measurements precision has a direct influence on the calculated values of rainfall kinetic energy.
