abstract: European Union membership makes the farmers obliged to cultivate the farmlands respecting erosion control systems. The process of legislation harmonisation as well as the Code of Good Practices implementation gives an opportunity to improve previous years’ mistakes and negligence which took place in severely eroded areas. Some kinds of needs for spatial planing changes in Trzebnica Hills are presented in this paper. The problem is described in relation to proper land use based on erosion control systems. Analyses have been made on the example of the Mielnica stream catchment located in the southern parts of the Hills, in Dolnoslaskie district. Basing on estimated water erosion risk, erosion control systems are recognised as essential to apply. There are plenty slope-oriented steep ploughlands and many agricultural measures are made in downslope directions.
