abstract: The applied homogenization and interpolation procedures allowed credible reconstruction of the 121-year series of relative humidity (H), water vapour pressure (e) and saturation deficit (d) for the Wroc³aw-Swojec Observatory. The data used come from several meteorological stations in Wroc³aw, while the Wroc³aw-Swojec observatory is located in the suburbs, and is not directly affected by the urban heat island. The observatory is representative for agricultural areas of the Silesia Lowland. The reconstructed series, for the years 1891-2003, were verified by Barlett’s homogeneity test. The features of long-term variability of the analyzed parameters were examined for average values in the summer (April-September) and winter (October-March) half-years, and in full calendar years. In the runs of all the analyzed parameters, their quasi-periodical character is visible. It is a complex, synthetic outcome of long-term atmospheric circulation changes and solar activity influences. Secular linear trends for H and e, gradually decrease, and they increase for d, especially in the summer half-years. Harmonic analysis proves the existence of climatic cycles, of 7-8 years due to atmospheric circulation, and of 11 and 22 years due to solar cycles.
