abstract: The paper presents the results of research carried out at Mokronosy Experimental Station of the Department of Land Improvement, Environmental Development and Geodesy, Agricultural University, Poznań, in 1997-98. The field research was carried out on 19 chosen research transects. Soil pits were made in the transects at characteristic points. Soil samples were taken from the pits for analyses of basic physical, chemical and water characteristic of the soil profiles. The research indicated significant soil cover differentiation in the analyzed area. The differentiation involved changes of soil profile structure as well as some changes of physical characteristic of examined soils. Obtained results confirmed significant impact of water erosion and long-term intensive agricultural use on soil cover degradation.
