abstract: The research was conducted in period of 2001-2002 on eight-years-old wastelands on the farm, which size was about 50 ha, located in the north-western part of Wielkopolskie voivodenship. The only agricultural activity on this land was grazing by Polish Heath Sheep ewes with lambs kept in a group of 350-400 animals. The results of this study showed that level of grazing on such lands stays in close relation to the level of availability of grass on the pasture, which depends on changing environmental conditions. Therefore it is important that farmers should react in very flexible way for feed changes on the pasture and organised additional feeding sources for sheep grazing in the end of vegetative period.
