abstract: The aim of study was to evaluate the influence of pond management on surface water quality. The evaluation was carried out on the basis of analysis of selected physicochemical parameters of waters supplied to the pond and exhausted to the ditch. A pond belonging to the Polish Angling Association, situated in Siedliszczki in the Lublin region, was subjected to studies. The object is situated on Płaskowyż Świdnicki that is an agricultural region with small wood percentage. The results of the study revealed that, in most cases, water quality after passing the pond was not worsened. Only values of two oxygen parameters (BOD5 and COD-Cr) increased. However, quite high values of some indices in water flowing into the pond are worth mentioning. Their high levels might be associated with agricultural activity in the Giełczew river basin supplying water to the ponds.
