abstract: Selected physicochemical properties (pH, EC, Ca, Mg, K, Na) of ground water and littoral lake water of Lake Piaseczno have been investigated. Studies were carried out in 1992-1999 during spring (April, May), summer (June, July), and autumn (September, October). The chemistry of ground water within a peat bog differed in each season from that observed within the lake littoral. In general, the decrease of element concentration and EC in the ground water was noticed from spring to autumn. In the case of pH, the inverse situation was observed: its value was the highest in autumn. 4 patterns of variability for 6 considered parameters were stated on the base of maximum and minimum values. The seasonal differences in element concentrations in both ground and littoral lake water indicate large autonomy of investigated ecosystems in the transitional zone.
