Estimation of the climatic conditions of the area of Wąwolnica commune in Lublin woivodeship in heatlh resort aspect

abstract:
General climatic conditions were estimated on the basis of data on atmospheric circulation (the frequency of occurrence of pressure patterns, kinds of air masses and separating them atmospheric fronts), solar radiation (e.g. sunshine) and cloudiness as well as the thermal, precipitation and wind conditions. The climatic differentiation of analysed area was described by using the following factors: sculpture of terrain (the size and the arrangement of morphological forms, the relative heights, the exposition and the inclination of the terrain), the extent and kind of cover of the terrain, as well as its humidity. The value of incoming solar radiation to the active surface has been applied as the basic criterion in the aspect of estimation of the conditions for health resort requirements. The method by Stružka was used. The results of investigations of neighbouring areas with similar physiographic conditions (e.g. Nałęczów and the neighbourhoods), the results of local inspection of the terrain of the Wąwolnica commune as well as the authors` earlier experiences were helpful too. Four classes of terrain usefulness for health resort needs were proposed:
Class I – areas with the most favourable climatic conditions for the purposes described,
Class II – areas with favourable climatic conditions,
Class III (with two subtypes a and b) – areas with moderately favourable climatic conditions,
Class IV – areas with unfavourable climatic conditions.
The distribution of individual classes within the area of the Wąwolnica commune was presented on the map.
