abstract: The intermediate indicators of the eutrophic processes intensification in the lake reservoirs are the values of the phytoplankton productivity defined as the global primary production as well as the chlorophyll-a concentration. It was the theoretical foundation, where according to the Talling formula the assimilation numbers were calculated and its suitable ranges marked the degree of fertilizing processes intensification. The main purpose of this paper is to determine the seasonal changes in the productivity of planctic algal community in the pelagic and coastal zones of the mesotrophic Lake Piaseczno (ŁęcznaWłodawa Lakeland, East Poland). The examinations were carried out in spring, summer and autumn 2001-2002, in the pelagial zone, as well as in the nearshore zones of lakebasin bordering on the parts of catchment area used in different ways: recreation and extensive agriculture, and degraded blanket peat bog. The primary production of phytoplankton was measured using the oxygen method with "light" and "dark" bottles, while the concentrations of chlorophyll-a were analysed with the method according to Nush. The compared research results as well as the assimilation numbers testify about intensifying eutrophic processes mainly in summer and autumn seasons in 2001 and 2002.
