abstract: This study was done on an area of Chrząszczewska Island, covered by meadow and pasture plants. On areas with saline plants a presence of grass communities has developed, with dominant species such as Festuca rubra, Agrostis stolonifera, whereas on areas of excessive moisture – Phragmites australis showed a great expansion. Of the halophytes Juncus gerardi, Triglochin maritimum and Plantago maritima could be distinguished. Together with the halophytes, Trifolium repens was quite commonly present. The share of halophytes in the plant community had no influence on content of organic compounds and the energy concentration.
