abstract: The research was made during the years 2001-2003 at the Experimental Station Lublin-Felin of University of Agriculture, Lublin. The aim was to assess the yield of six species of dill (Anethum graveolens L.): ‘Amat’, ‘Ambrozja’, ‘Fantazos’, ‘Lukullus’, ‘Kronos’ and ‘Szmaragd’. The seeds were sawn into the soil from April to August and the climate (temperature, rain) and fertilisation were very important in the experiment. The plants were cropped when the majority of them was 20 to 25 cm high, and then estimations were made of their yielding – the total yield, the marketable yield and unmarketable yield. The plants cropped from the plots as a whole were treated as the total yield, plants without roots, dark-green coloured, without any damage, were the marketable yield, and plants with damage, withered, or fragments of plants were treated as the unmarketable yield. There were statistically significant differences of the total yield and marketable yield between the species of dill, terms of sowing and harvesting, and the years of the experiment. The biggest total yield was reached from ‘Ambrozja’ plants – average from the years 2001-2003 at 21.39 t ha-1, but also the ‘Amat’ and ‘Fantazos’ species reached high total yields. The best term for sowing was June (25.25 t ha-1 total yield, 24.47 t ha-1 marketable yield), and the biggest yields were taken in the year 2003 (21 t ha-1 total yield, 20.17 t ha-1 marketable yield). The highest marketable yield was obtained from plants of ‘Ambrozja’ variety (20.55 tha-1). The unmarketable yield was estimated as from 3.9% to 5.3% of the total yield, according to the cultivars and sowing term each year.
