abstract: The dielectric material most frequently tested in agricultural engineering is seed of different plant species. Dielectric properties of seeds have been successfully used since the nineteen seventies in so-called electro-technologies, such as grain dielectric drying connected with simultaneous disinfestation, cleaning and sorting in electric fields. Research on the influence of the electromagnetic fields, including laser radiation, on seeds was started in the nineteen nineties. Most of the research deals with the influence of fields on obtained effects in the form of time and energy of germination, crop quantity and quality, e.g. the stiffness of stalks etc. None of the research is concerned with the biophysics of phenomena connected with the influence of the fields on the medium that is a living organism. The description of obtained effects has phenomenological character. The research conditions have not been precisely described in technical aspects. That is why they make the research and its results unrepeatable and incomparable. The paper indicates the parameters, the maintenance of which can help with comparisons of research.
