abstract: The analysis of statistical-cartographic use of land in Lublin Province in 2001 was carried out by using the method of relative deviations. All components of use i.e.: arable land, orchards, meadows, pastures, forests, remaining areas were analysed. Percentage of individual components of the use structure in every among 213 basic spatial units (communes) was compared to their average which relates to the territory of Poland and, by using mathematical formulas, the degrees of relative deviations were calculated. They were the base to construct chronograms. The component with the highest positive and with the highest negative deviation from the average for Poland was showed in every commune. Results were showed graphically.
