abstract: The experiment was conducted in 2001-2003 on a leached brown earth with loamy, silty soil texture. The aim of the present investigation was to quantify the influence of sulphur on commercial and seed tuber yield and its structure. Sulphur was applied with different sulphur forms (elemental S and K2SO4) and rates (0, 25 and 50 kg ha-1 S). The application of sulphur and meteorological characteristic (rainfall and temperature) did not influence the commercial and seed tuber yield. An interrelation was observed between commercial and seed tuber yield of tubers and mean mass of 1 tuber. This features gave a significant prediction on commercial and seed tuber yield. Therefore, for precise estimation of commer-cial and seed tuber yield of potato, the mean mass of 1 tuber can be accepted, where a dependence was noticed. The application of with sulphur in dose of 50 kg ha-1 significantly increased the yield and per-centage share of tubers diameters of 4-5 cm. The yield tubers of 5-6 cm in diameter was the highest when 25 kg ha-1 was applied in sulphate form and 50 kg ha-1 S in elemental form. Other tuber diameters and studied elements of yield structure were not modified by sulphur fertilization. Variability of studied char-acteristics was more strongly determined by weather factors and by interaction of climatic conditions with sulphur fertilization than by direct influence of S.
