abstract: In this study evaluation was made of the effect of two commercial products: Pokon & Chrysal: BVB and Chrysal BVB plus, and growth regulators: gibberellic acid (GA3) and benzyladenine (BA) on the post-harvest vase life of four tulip cultivars: ‘Golden Apeldoorn’, ‘Hollands Glorie’, ‘London’ and ‘Oxford’. Cut tulips, after 24-hours of conditioning in mentioned products and growth regulators, were put in tap water. After 24 hours some morphological features of tulips and mechanical properties of stem were mechanically tested (static test) on the Instron model 6022 strength tester to find the maximum force destroying the stem and deformation and energy at that force. Among tested cultivars, the best longevity of decorative value were characteristic of ‘Hollands Glorie’ and ‘London’, while ‘Oxford’ and ‘Golden Apeldoorn’ stored poorer. The effects of studied conditioners on the post-harvest flower longevity of individual tulip cultivars were varied. BVB plus and BVB had beneficial effect on prolonging the ornamental values of ‘Hollands Glorie’ and ‘London’, but GA3 on ‘Golden Apeldoorn’ and ‘Oxford’. Forthe ‘Hollands Glorie’ the highest flower stem, with the great mass, at quite big stem diameter and mass of flower bud was recorded. The flower stems of this cultivar had also the biggest increase of length of internode upper part and flower bud. The stems of ‘Hollands Glorie’ had the greatest values of deformation, maximum force permanently destroying the stem and energy value at that force. Increase of stem and flower bud length, after conditioning in GA3, was significantly bigger as compare to the control and to the other treatments.
