abstract: Studies were conducted on silt loam soil developed from loess. The influence of initial soil moisture content and soil density on the formation and changes of surface runoff intensity and soil wash during simulated rainfalls was determined. When comparing cycles of rainfalls, differentiation was found between total soil wash and wash measured during rainfalls. Obtained results indicated that loosening the soil surface caused a reduction of soil wash, and also drying of sealed soil decreased soil loss and thus decreased susceptibility of silt loam soil to erosion caused by raindrops.
