abstract:
An 18-year long experiment was carried out to study the effect of traditional, reduced, shallow and no-tillage methods on soil (Eutric Fluvisol) penetration resistance. Analyses of soil penetration resistance showed that at the depth of 4-6cm the soil with direct sowing had the highest penetration resistance, at the depth of 16-18cm the highest penetration resistance was measured in the traditionally cultivated soil. The increase in penetration resistance value form the depth of 4-6 cm to that of 16-18 cm was the highest in the traditionally cultivated soil. Soil penetration resistance was the highest in the whole analysed soil moisture range under the no-tillage system.
