abstract:
Immediate and consequential effects of the gel-forming polymer TerraCottem in doses of 1 and 2 g kg-1 on aggregate-size distribution and aggregate water stability of eroded Haplic Luvisol developed from loess were evaluated in a plot experiment. The results showed that TerraCottem significantly decreased the content of clods above 10 mm in diameter, and significantly increased the content of air-dry aggregates of 0.25-10 mm in surface layer of eroded soil. Application of the gel-forming polymer significantly increased the content of water-stable aggregates of 0.25-10 mm in treated soil as compared with control sample. Significantly larger content of water-stable aggre¬gates of 0.25-10 mm was found in the second year after the application of hydrogel dose of 2 g kg-1 as compared with the control.
