abstract: The present work deals with the study of the linear trend and the cyclic character of the annual mean of air temperature in Szczecin in the last 60 years. For this purpose, the method of linear regression was applied as well as the spectrum analysis based on the analysis of Fourier time series. In the last 20 years (1989-2008), the following years of extreme mean temperatures were observed: cold year 1996 (7.09oC) and warm year 2007 (10.28oC). The occurrence of a positive linear trend of the annual mean temperature of the regression coefficient 0.0242oC year-1 was recorded. It was shown that the changes of the analysed air temperature are of a cyclic character and the dominant period of the changes amounts to about 8.6 years. To determine the tendencies of the changes more accurately, longer temperature measurement series are required.
