abstract: The study presented in this paper described a potential for the starting platinum ions to activate iron ions in the loess soil. Soil samples were treated with solutions of platinum ions in a form of PtCl4 containing 20, 40, and 200 mg Pt(IV) dm-3 and incubated at two temperature levels: 5 and 20oC for a period of: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 months. The iron ions content was determined in the filtrates using a technique of ASA. On the basis of the results obtained, it was concluded that an introduction of the highest amount of Pt(IV) ions into the soil, a lower temperature level and a longer incubation time caused lower desorption of Fe(II) ions in the loess soil.
