abstract: The van Genuchten-Mualem method for the determination of the hydraulic conductivity coefficient is based on the water retention curve, pF, approximated by a 3parameter function. These parameters allow to calculate the coefficient through the full range of soil moisture. The aim of the study was to estimate the influence of precision in the determination of these parameters on the calculation accuracy in comparison with empirical measured values. The values are presented for 4 hydrogenic soil monoliths Mt I aa, ab, bb, bc. The analysis of the results obtained allowed the authors to indicate that estimation inaccuracy of two of the examined pF function parameters influenced the obtained values of hydraulic conductivity coefficient very substantially.
