abstract: This article describes an investigation on the influences of static and alternating magnetic fields on the growth process of durum wheat germs for two variants: in one seeds were placed on moist blotting-paper which was placed in magnetic field from the beginning; in the second, seedlings i.e. seeds which germinated without the presence of magnetic field grew after being placed in one. Measurements of germ growth speed were made for seeds of hard wheat, for six values of static magnetic field induction and four values of alternating field induction, with a frequency of about f = 50 Hz. Measurements of growth speed in relation with growth time show a negative, weakening the growth process, influence of static magnetic field for all the induction values, on seeds as well as on seedlings. In the case of alternating magnetic field, a positive influence on seeds and seedlings placed in the field was observed for almost all the induction values applied in the first period of germ growth.
