abstract: The paper presents a laboratory research on the quality of carrot seeding using the operating unit of the S011 Alex seeder. It was observed that the best share of Joba and Karotan varieties in the examined classes of spacing in a row occurred at the seeder operating speed of 0.5 m s-1. However, at a speed of 0.4 m s-1 and speeds greater than 0.5 m s-1 the accuracy of carrot seeds distribution in a row was observed to deteriorate, which showed itself in a decrease of the rate of single sowing and an increase of skips and double sowing. Based upon a statistical analysis of the research results, in most cases significant differences were identified between single and double sowing and skips depending on the applied seeder operating speed. Thus, it can be concluded that the seeder operating speed significantly impacted the quality of sowing the carrot seeds of the examined varieties in laboratory conditions.
