abstract: The paper presents results of field investigations on the impact of meteorological conditions during the vegetation period (in the years 1972-1992) on yield of potato in two locations (mesoregions) of northeastern Poland. In calculation of multiple analyses of variance – MANOVA –the following mean weighted elements of meteorological conditions were taken under consideration: average temperature of the vegetation period, average temperature of August, mean ratio of the sum of precipitation in August to the total precipitation in the whole vegetation period, mean precipitation of the vegetation period. The data used in the calculations concerned years with the highest yields (≥35 dt per ha) of potato cultivars characterized as medium late and late. Calculations indicated significance of climatic differences in the compared locations.
