abstract: An attempt of ETR estimation of ponds and surrounding areas is presented in this paper. Estimated calculation was carried out for circular reservoirs with surface areas equal to 100, 1000, 10000 and 100000 m2. It was assumed that an impact of ponds on these areas was manifested in a 100 m width zone in the form of ground water level fluctuation, soil humidity as well as quantity of evapotranspiration. Evaporation from a water surface was calculated with the Iwanow equation. Evapotranspiration of adjoining areas was estimated by the Heat Balance Model (MBC) developed at the Department of Agrometeorology of Agricultural University in Poznań. Taking into account a complex of pond-adjoining areas within 100 m from the shore of the pond under consideration, it turned out that the larger the area of such a complex, the larger percentage share of evaporation from the pond surface in relation to the total evapotranspiration of the whole complex. The value of ETR of analyzed surfaces depends mainly on the value of water vapour deficits. Thus, the bigger the water vapour deficit and the larger the area of evaporation surfaces, then the larger the value of ETR of surfaces with large area in relation to the ETR of surfaces with small area. What is more, the larger the area of ponds (as well as the whole evaporation surfaces), then the ETR of analyzed surfaces is closer to the value of pond evaporation.
