abstract: In an experiment with strawberry (Fragaria x ananassa Duch) cv. Elsanta grown in an unheated plastic greenhouse, conducted during the years 2004-2005, the effect of substrate type (peat, peat+sand, peat+pine bark) and two nitrogen doses on the yield and chemical composition of leaves was investigated. The research showed no significant differences in the total yield of plants grown in peat and peat with pine bark mixtures. Total yield of strawberry grown in peat with sand mixture was significantly lower compared to other substrates. Nitrogen doses had no effect on the yielding of strawberry.
