abstract: The study was conducted in the years 2002-2004 and was concerned with growing of anthurium in expanded clay, with the use of a drip fertigation system. The dynamics of nutrient contents in the index parts of anthurium (the fully expanded leaves of plants the bloom of which had been fresh harvested) was studied. The following cultivars were tested: ‘Tropical’, ’Midori’, ‘President’, ‘Choco’, ‘Baron’ and ‘Pistache’. During the experiment standard nutrient solution used for cultivating anthurium (mg dm-3): N-NH4 <14, N-NO3 –105, P – 31, K – 176, Ca – 60, Mg – 24, S-SO4 – 48, Fe – 0,84, Mn – 0,16, Zn – 0,20, B – 0,22, Cu – 0,032, Mo – 0,048, pH 5,5 – 5,7, EC 1,5-1,8 mS cm-1. The content of nitrogen, calcium and magnesium in the index parts of plants showed decreasing tendency during the vegetation period. An increase tendency was found in the content of potassium, phosphorus, sulphur in the index parts of anthurium grown in expanded clay.
